The Soul Kitchen Retreat: Spring 2017

Hello friends!

The Soul Kitchen is holding our second spiritual retreat this spring. Just like last time, we are planning a weekend that we hope to be both laid back and intense…simultaneously. Trust me, it can be done. 😊 And while the majority of those in attendance will likely be part of a recovery fellowship, anyone seeking spiritual growth is welcome.

We are going to be looking at how calamity and painful experiences can color our spiritual journey, as well as how we can better understand them in the context of God’s love.

The retreat is held at Villa Desiderata, an amazing place, where it’s frankly quite hard NOT to have a spiritual experience of one kind or another.

Please come join us and see what God has in store. Feel free to add anyone to this event that you think would benefit. And don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Many blessings to you all!

Soul Kitchen – Spiritual Retreat for People in Recovery

Hello recovery friends!

We’re happy to announce a new spiritual retreat starting this winter: December 9-11. It’s our intention to create a weekend experience that is both totally laid back, and at the same time, really intense. Sound impossible? Maybe it is, but we’re trying anyway. Come find out 🙂 In any case, we know it will be a cool new experience for all of us.

This is a spiritual retreat for men and women in recovery. It is not specifically AA, nor will we focus on any single spiritual path. There will, however, be examples used from various spiritual traditions throughout the weekend. We hope this will not make anyone uncomfortable.

The theme for our first retreat is “Ditching the Double Life,” which refers to a paragraph on page 73 of the AA Big Book.

“More than most people, the alcoholic leads a double life. He is very much the actor. To the outer world he presents his stage character. This is the one he likes his fellows to see. He wants to enjoy a certain reputa tion, but knows in his heart he doesn’t deserve it.”

We all wear masks. Whether we want to admit that or not. At this retreat, we will take a raw, honest look at our masks and why we need them. In a laid back way, of course 🙂

The cost for the weekend, which includes room and board, is $125. We are asking for a $25 deposit to hold your spot.

Questions? Contact our retreat secretaries: Mae Y or Ryan K. Or anyone else on the retreat committee.
